We live in a creativity infused world, where every day, innovative people with rich imaginations come up with business ideas that have the potential to change the world. This means it’s quite hard to choose only a few representative companies that have proven to be truly innovative. For the purpose of today’s article, we tried to limit ourselves to only 3 innovative companies that had what it took to change their field.
3 Innovative Companies to Get Inspiration from
Uber is a transportation app that launched in 2010. The California-based company has pioneered the business of ride-hailing, which brought it immediate success. People loved the idea from the start and didn’t hesitate to recommend Uber to their friends and family. But there’s more to Uber than you might think.
For instance, did you know that in 2016, the company acquired the startup Otto and used its software and hardware to develop a self-driving truck? The truck has managed to deliver 50,000 cans of Budweiser, making the project a success. What makes Uber such an innovative company is its use of user data to improve customer experience. The service is available in no less than 73 countries all around the world.
Everybody knows Netflix as a supplier of online video streaming, but in fact, the company also runs a DVD-by-mail service in the United States. It was founded in 1997, and its subscription model became available in 1999. Can you believe it’s been that long? Currently, their service is available in 190 countries, and they have about 93 million subscribers. Netflix proved to be even more innovative when, apart from distributing movies and television series from partners, it started coming up with original content.
For example, two of the most popular shows last year were House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black, both of them Netflix originals. Netflix is interested in catering to the needs and desires of niches of people, rather than to a broad audience, which is another thing that makes it so innovative.
Spotify allows users to stream music, podcasts, and videos. The Swedish company was founded in 2006. Ever since then, they’ve closed agreements with different media companies and record labels, in order to provide their customers with access to the very best products. The innovation of the company lies in its legitimization of the “freemium” business model. Their pricing strategy offers basic services such as music streaming for free. However, it charges money for premium features such as direct downloads or the ability to listen to music without ads.
2016 was another innovative year for Spotify. They’ve released personalized playlists powered by data. Some examples would be Fresh Finds, Discover Weekly, or Release Radar. These playlists drew in even more listeners, contributing to the growing success of the company. Companies such as Apple and Amazon are fierce competitors, but for now, Spotify remains at the top of the list.
We hope the 3 innovative companies we’ve talked about today have inspired you to follow your dreams and start your own business.
